Preparing the Log
I started a new piece this past week. I’ve had a lovely piece of black walnut drying out for the past few years. When it was cut five or six years ago, it was still green. After it had dried for a couple of years, I split it in half lengthwise. Here’s a video on how that was done.
The bark was removed next. That was easily done with a hand axe which I tapped with a rubber mallet. The bark practically fell off by itself.
